Kapshtica Protocol : ウィキペディア英語版 | Protocol of Kapshtica Protocol of Kapshtica also known as Kapshtica Protocol, or Kapshtica Agreement, was an agreement between Albanian and Greek states signed in the border town of Kapshticë on 28 May 1920, confirming the southeastern border of Albania with Greece and the revocation of Greek claims to the Korçë region. The protocol included also provisions for the protection of the local Greek population of Korçë District and its educational and religious rights. ==Background== During World War I, Greece was one of seven countries to occupy Albania, filling the vacuum left after the collapse of Ottoman Empire in the Balkans during the Balkan Wars. Greece claimed parts of southern Albania as "Northern Epirus", since a sizeable Greek minority lived there. In 1915, Greek positions were occupied by Italian troops in Gjirokastër and French troops in Korçë. After the disestablishment of the Autonomous Albanian Republic of Korçë, French troops left the area which incorporated in the newly created Albanian state, and the Paris Peace Conference reaffirmed the borders. Nevertheless, tensions were present in that part of Albanian-Greek border.
